Blog Basics

A blog, or “weblog,” is your fast-track way to keeping your audience updated regularly on what’s happening with your organization. A blog is a website that is basically on online journal logging in events, news and commentary on the topic of the day.

Easy to set up and maintain, if you publish content regularly, search engines will love you.

Your blog can feature one author or many and will give your organization a chance to air its personal voice(s).

Within your blog you can link to news articles about your nonprofit or your cause, other websites, sponsors, partners, videos etc. Links are a good thing, use them! You can also engage your audience in a conversation through comments on posts.

A blog does require commitment and work but most posts can be short and snappy. Don’t feel pressured to post just anything, quality over quantity is best. If you have a website, some of that content can simply be expanded into a blog post!

If you want to keep the conversation alive and current a blog is one of the best tools available!
