New media

“New Media” encompasses most digital technologies that have emerged in the latter part of the 20th century.

This new media has increased the ability for people all over the world to communicate and express themselves through blogs, pictures, websites, etc. W. Russell Neuman, a professor of Media Technology at the University of California, Berkley, says“We are witnessing the evolution of a universal interconnected network of audio, video, and electronic text communications that will blur the distinction between interpersonal and mass communication and between public and private communication.”

Neuman argues that New Media:

  • Will alter the meaning of geographic distance.
  • Allow for a huge increase in the volume of communication.
  • Provide the possibility of increasing the speed of communication.
  • Provide opportunities for interactive communication.
  • Allow forms of communication that were previously separate to overlap and interconnect.

Tap into the possibilities that New Media offer to non-profit organizations with Phil’s help. In today’s fast and overwhelming information age New Media offer an unprecedented tool for educating and sharing knowledge, culture and social movements while encouraging engagement.
